I wasn’t surprised to see that I had put on 1lb this week, and instead of feeling upset or annoyed with myself, I accepted it and decided to move on and make sure I lost weight next week. I’m not going to dwell on it like I would have done before, because that’s when I convince myself that I cannot do it and I end up throwing in the towel. Not this time! So my plan is to lose 3lb next week – totally achievable and that will get me right back on track.

In our session today, my coach asked us a question: what is hunger? I thought this was quite simple to answer, but when I actually thought about it and we discussed our answers, it's a lot harder to answer than you think.

I put down that hunger to me is feeling like you are empty, feeling sick and getting a headache. Other answers including a rumbling tummy and feeling tetchy. When we talked about it, our coach explained that things like headaches and feeling sick aren’t because you are hungry, but more because you are dehydrated and need to drink water. She said that its mind over matter, so when you feel hungry you should think about it first before acting.

When was the last time you ate? If you ate a meal two hours ago, chances are you aren’t hungry, just thirsty. When you ate, how much did you have? Sometimes we don’t eat enough, so this is important to look at too. I’ve never thought about hunger; instead I’ve just acted on the thought that I’m hungry. If I think I’m hungry, I eat, simple.

Now I need to sit and consider this feeling before acting on impulse, because when I do feel sick or have an over dramatic moment where I feel like I’m going to die if I don’t eat, I need to stop and think, maybe I just need a glass of water?

BTW, I am very excited to see a new nutrition bar added to the Ideal Weight range. If you haven’t tried it yet, then I urge you to give it a go, trust me, you will not be disappointed!!!
